ABOUT ME

Welcome! My name is Kristen LePage and I’m a board-certified and licensed naturopathic doctor licensed in Kansas and an acupuncturist. I am originally from Ontario, Canada but currently live in Northwest Arkansas with my husband.

I’ve known for just about as long as I can remember that I wanted to pursue a career in the healthcare field. As a young girl I was also fascinated by books my mom had on herbal medicine and natural health and would spend hours looking through them and learning. My dream career was to combine my passion for medicine with the interest I had in natural health – when I found naturopathic medicine it was the perfect fit!

After completing my undergraduate degree in pre-med at Xavier University in Cincinnati, I received my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine and a Masters in Acupuncture from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois. During my training I completed an internship at JH Stroger hospital pain clinic as well as an internship at a health clinic which allowed me the opportunity to gain experience in seeing patients with a wide variety of conditions.

My Passion

Naturopathic Medicine

Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process.  The practice of naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods. There are six principles that naturopathic medicine is based upon.

Naturopathic Principles:

  1. The Healing Power of Nature – Health is our bodies’ natural state and that state can become disrupted with obstacles that can lead to disease. Optimal health is restored by identifying and removing those obstacles and supporting the body’s  healing process.
  2. Identify and Treat the Causes – A naturopathic doctor’s goal is to identify and remove the underlying causes of disease rather than to simply eliminate or mask symptoms.
  3. First Do No Harm – In order to minimize the risk of harmful side effects the least invasive methods are used and the body’s own healing abilities are acknowledged and supported.
  4. Doctor as Teacher – Education is a vital component to naturopathic medicine. The naturopathic doctor functions as a teacher in order to encourage responsibility and knowledge regarding one’s own health.
  5. Treat the Whole Person – Naturopathic doctors take into account the whole body when addressing dysfunction; mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social and other factors can affect all aspects of health. Everything in the body is connected and naturopathic medicine provides true whole person care.
  6. Prevention – The prevention of disease is emphasized by assessing risks factors and susceptibility to disease and making appropriate interventions in order to support optimal health.

These naturopathic principles guide naturopathic doctors to provide empowering lifestyle changes to address the cause of disease and improve health.  Naturopathic care is truly personalized to each individual’s needs and concerns.
